The Little Things

Originally Written by the13thcynic December 17, 2009 at 2:50 AM There’s just so much I’ve been wanting to put down for myself in my blog, but I haven’t been able to actually start hitting the keys here in my safe little WP box. Obviously until now. I had an excellent piece of advice earlier from a whip-smart lady I like to call a friend; I was worrying out loud (typing rather) that my topic would be misinterpreted as fishing for sympathy and pity partying, but she said, ‘If you can’t whine in your own blog, where can you?’ So here I am. I changed the title of the blog for a reason. I do consider myself White Trash, and through years of trial and error and being slapped back into My Place, I have finally accepted my lot in life. My fate, the hand I was dealt, my role, my station in life. People can drone on about how you make your own success in life and change your own luck, etc, but not if you’re MEANT to be WHO you are AND WHERE you are in life? Therapeutic venting/bloggin...

‘Summer’ teeth

Originally Written by the13thcynic December 18, 2009 at 2:54 AM Since I don’t have a car and PS is very bizarre about me using her car, plus it’s slowly falling apart…and because of the 10+ years of frequent (but not constant) meth use, my teeth are shit. They held out better than most, I credit my Mom for that one, I never had a cavity until I was 21. We weren’t allowed sugary cereals & soda pops but on rare occasions. Now I am a Coke WHORE! Which is most of the reason my fat ass is as fat as it is… Over the last several years I haven’t really been to the dentist. I had a tooth pulled maybe 3 years ago? I need another (very back) pulled soon and that was 8 months ago a dentist told me that…now I’m positive the remaining 2 very back ones will be ripe for yanking outta my head. Every tooth I have has a cavity except for maybe 3 in the front, many have more than one. Think of it this way, 8 or 9 years ago I was told I needed 12 fillings…I’ve had one pulled since then a...

Closer to Christmas. Bah Humbug.

Originally Written by the13thcynic December 22, 2009 at 3:14 AM Saturday the girls woke me up to make our run up to the food bank for our ‘Holiday Boxes’. We had to fill out all the paperwork and pre-register of course. I try not to use the food bank unless I really have to. There’s always someone who has it worse. If I can make it through, I make it through. The Xmas boxes are very much like the Thanksgiving ones were, can of pumpkin, canned cranberry, box of instant potatoes, corn, stuffing and a turkey, evaporated milk, frozen pie crust and even a can of black olives (I LOVE olives!) and eggs (we’re having deviled eggs!). My oldest got theirs as well, so we decided to cook hers tomorrow, mine on Xmas (she’s not sure if she’ll make it over then, she has other family to see) and on Christmas Eve I’m cooking a nice roast I got on a great sale thanks to a friend who gave me a lovely gift of some money I spent very responsibly, I might add. Laundry, groceries, household needs...

I Want Corn Flakes and Banana

Originally Written by the13thcynic January 4, 2010 at 3:37 AM I really do, but ain’t going to the store at almost 3AM. You know, if I REALLY wanted it right now, and it was warmer, I would go. I do have PS’s car, well, access to it anyway, but waking her up for the keys could be a death sentence, she’s got school tomorrow. She’s almost done. Almost the very FIRST High School Graduate in our Family. Granted, she had to get it through a private school, but it is what it is. I got my GED (and I scored exceedingly high, first try no less, thank you very much; all but for the math…bleh!) 9 years after I would have graduated regular High School, and my oldest, poor thing, I don’t know if she ever really had the chance. Don’t look at me, I tried, remember, Damage Control? I was out numbered by the inbred hillbillies. I mean, what kind of motivation is there when the Grandmother married at 14 by lying about her age to her second Cousin? Anywho…that car of hers has been more stress…a...

The Name Is The Claim To My Fame...

So a couple of years (?) ago (way back in these blog archives) I declared my intent to change my name legally back to my original birth name (Laura) along with my original last name, as I'm 'almost' clueless as to who I really am and where I came from, so I figured Anderson was generic enough to cover how I feel which is generic and unattached to a 'biological' history. Well, after having some time to think and after several conversations with my astronomically enlightened daughter, I have finally, legally nailed it down as Laurie Maloy. The name my daughter say's *is* ME and who I am. Which is where my personal Family Tree will begin, with just me. My adoptive Mother, the only one I've ever known, changed my first name to 'Laurie' from 'Laura' and it's become who I am. Either way, both names mean 'victory' (from Laurel, the symbol of victory). The last name, some of you know where it comes from and let me assure you, it's not...

The Meanings of My Little Family's Names...

LAURIE; The meaning found for this name is The laurel tree or sweet bay tree symbolic of honor and VICTORY. Old name with many variants.. The origin of LAURIE is English (this spelling variation is Scottish). RAE; The meaning found for this name is Doe. The origin of RAE is English. Mine and Nova's (granddaughter's) middle name. Or you can consider it the Feminine spelling of 'Ray' as in Ray of Light. Whatever blows ur skirt up:) I'm just not too 'Doe like' unless you count how I look when caught in headlights! Cajun's name comes from this word; ACACIA; The meaning found for this name is "thorny.". The origin of ACACIA is African. BRENNA; The meaning found for this name is Raven. The origin of BRENNA is Celtic. The first name of Cajun's dual middle name; it's hyphenated (yes, had to be complicated) Raven's are a classic symbol, and Poe is my favorite! JAYNE; The meaning found for this name is Jehovah has been gracious: has shown fav...
