So a couple of years (?) ago (way back in these blog archives) I declared my intent to change my name legally back to my original birth name (Laura) along with my original last name, as I'm 'almost' clueless as to who I really am and where I came from, so I figured Anderson was generic enough to cover how I feel which is generic and unattached to a 'biological' history.
Well, after having some time to think and after several conversations with my astronomically enlightened daughter, I have finally, legally nailed it down as Laurie Maloy. The name my daughter say's *is* ME and who I am. Which is where my personal Family Tree will begin, with just me. My adoptive Mother, the only one I've ever known, changed my first name to 'Laurie' from 'Laura' and it's become who I am. Either way, both names mean 'victory' (from Laurel, the symbol of victory). The last name, some of you know where it comes from and let me assure you, it's not personally tied to him. I used this name for years even after I married my last husband, and as my girls say, it has become MY name.
After 40 years, I've finally figured out who I am, at least on my drivers license.
